For Educators

The East Meadow Public Library is one of only ten libraries in the United States to be awarded Discover Earth from The American Library Association (ALA) Public Programs Office, in partnership with the National Center for Interactive Learning at Space Science Institute, the Lunar and Planetary Institute and the National Girls Collaborative Project.  Discover Earth is a $140,000 interactive traveling exhibition.  The Exhibit will be at the East Meadow Public Library from opening day Sunday, November 25, 2012 through closing day, Sunday, February 3, 2013.

We invite educators to use the Exhibit for their students in any way that you might feel it beneficial.  If you would like your class to visit Discover Earth at the Library, please feel free to schedule a time with us.

In addition, programs can be provided for your students.  You will find a description of available and suggested programs enclosed.  All of these sessions can be scheduled at East Meadow Public Library.  It might be possible for us to bring a program to your classroom depending on the speaker and demand.  Unfortunately, we cannot bring any part of the Discover Earth exhibit to your school.  Additional programming can be found in our newsletter online at eastmeadow.info.

Please contact us if you would like any further information on Discover Earth, or to schedule a visit to the East Meadow Public Library.  We can be reached by phone on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays from 9 a.m. through 5 p.m.  On Mondays and Wednesdays, we are in our office from 9 a.m. through 9 p.m.  We will be happy to speak with you.
